About This Machine

Uniform pitch laying
for multi-core cable construction

The JP-LM Series Laying Machine is a heavy-duty cable stranding and laying unit designed for assembling multi-core power cables, control cables, and instrumentation cables. Individual insulated cores are simultaneously drawn from supply bobbins on a rotating cradle, brought together through a forming die, and twisted to a precise lay pitch before entering the outer sheathing process. Consistent lay pitch is critical for cable electrical performance — variation in twist angle directly affects capacitance balance, crosstalk, and bend performance.

Three models scale for different cable constructions and production volumes. The JP-LM 630 handles smaller multi-core constructions up to 12 cores on 630 mm supply bobbins — suited to control and instrumentation cable. The JP-LM 1000 extends to medium power cable constructions with a larger bobbin cradle and adjustable lay pitch. The JP-LM 1250 is the full production model for large power and control cables — up to 36 cores on 1250 mm bobbins, with independent tension control per bobbin and automatic pitch compensation for consistent stranding at variable line speeds.

Key Features

  • Rotating cradle design — simultaneous supply of all cores with equal tension for balanced, symmetrical laying
  • Adjustable lay pitch control — programmable twist angle set to match cable specification without tool changes
  • Independent tension control per bobbin (JP-LM 1250) — prevents individual core sag or overtension during multi-core assembly
  • Precision forming die set — guides cores into correct circular formation before the laying point for consistent outer geometry
  • Synchronised line speed control — cradle rotation speed automatically tracks haul-off speed to maintain constant pitch across speed changes
  • Quick bobbin-change design — cradle accepts standardised bobbin flanges for fast changeover during production without full machine shutdown

Industry Applications

Multi-core Power Cable

Stranding 3, 4, and 5-core low-voltage power cables for building wiring and industrial distribution — precise pitch control ensures consistent cable geometry and electrical balance across all cores.

Control & Instrumentation Cable

Precision laying of multi-core control cables for industrial automation and process control — uniform lay pitch maintains shielding effectiveness and reduces electrical interference between cores.

Armoured Cable Construction

Pre-sheathing core assembly for SWA and AWA armoured cables — consistent core geometry before the armour application stage ensures uniform armouring and prevents core deformation under mechanical load.

Flexible Trailing Cable

Stranding flexible multi-core trailing cables for mining, port, and crane applications — soft strand formation and controlled lay ensures consistent bending performance and cable longevity in dynamic applications.
