About This Machine

Controlled traction
at every line speed

The JP-AC Series Caterpillar Haul-off is an inline cable pulling unit designed for smooth, slip-free traction in wire and cable extrusion lines. Twin opposing belt tracks grip the cable uniformly along a contact length — unlike capstan-wheel designs — distributing the pulling load without concentrating stress on a single point. This prevents surface marking and conductor deformation even on soft-insulation cables.

Three models address the full spectrum of production requirements. The JP-AC 150 is a compact, single-drive unit suited for small-diameter cables and lower-speed lines. The JP-AC 300 delivers mid-range pulling capacity with a dual-drive arrangement for stable tension at variable line speeds. The JP-AC 500 is the heavy-duty production model with servo-controlled variable-frequency drives, independent belt pressure adjustment, and closed-loop speed synchronisation — designed for demanding high-throughput cable lines where tension stability directly affects dimensional consistency.

Key Features

  • Twin opposing belt tracks — uniform contact gripping prevents surface marking and conductor deformation
  • Variable-frequency drive with closed-loop speed control — synchronises line speed across extrusion, cooling, and take-up stations
  • Adjustable belt gap and grip pressure — accommodates cables from 2 mm to 50 mm diameter without tooling changes
  • Servo-controlled belt tension (JP-AC 500) — eliminates speed variation under varying cable stiffness and diameter
  • Hardened rubber belt compound — resists abrasion from PVC and polyolefin insulation compounds for extended service life
  • Quick belt-change design — minimises downtime during scheduled maintenance or size changeover

Industry Applications

PVC Cable Extrusion Lines

Inline haul-off for insulation and sheathing extrusion — maintains constant line speed and tension to ensure uniform wall thickness and concentricity across the full production run.

XLPE High-Voltage Cable Lines

High-force pulling for large-diameter HV cable constructions where high line tension is required — servo-controlled traction prevents belt slip and surface marking on premium cables.

Optical Fibre & Data Cable Lines

Precise low-tension pulling for fibre optic and data cable lines — adjustable grip pressure prevents excess compression force on sensitive optical fibre bundles.

Rubber & Specialty Cables

Soft compound rubber cables require gentle, distributed grip to avoid surface marking — belt contact length distributes load without the point-loading of capstan wheels.

Pipe & Profile Extrusion Lines

Downstream haul-off for plastic pipe and profile extrusion — constant speed pulling maintains consistent wall thickness and prevents accordion deformation through the calibration section.
